The 1st day and 1st week after the surgeryOriginally written : 10th of June I really wanted to write this article a bit earlier, but honestly I didn't feel -not even a little- the mood to do so. I had no reason, I just didn't have the "spirit" to write. But let's get started ! As you can see on the picture below, under the bandage there were 2 tubes coming out of my knee. Only the consciousness that they're coming out of me was so wierd. As I wrote before, I read a few posts about what should I expect after the operation. Luckily , even If had more than enough, I didn't had that so much pain -thanks for the painkillers I guess- that I was expecting. The most unexpected thing was maybe the sore throat and that dry, "scrapping-scratching" feeling and the cough. It's just simply the side effect of intubation. Good to know.. So others already mentioned it, ice is going to be your best friend. I do agree, I absolutely do. Fortunately I was doing well enough, so I didn't have to stay in the hospital any longer. A nurse came to me and pulled the tubes out. She was really nice, first she've pulled out the longer one : ooone.... twooo... aaand 3.! Auch ! It hurts -of course it does- , but not that bad as it's sounds. And once more 1...2... 3.!, finally the second, the shorter one was out as well. I've got some patches so I was almost ready to go. I just had to wait for my new "partner". My doctors already asked me before the surgery, that which one of the two brace I'd want. Honestly, I had no idea what are they talking about at all, and they couldn't tell me what's the difference between them , maybe nothing. I said that's all the same, give me one of the two, I don't mind which one. So before I could left the hospital, I had to wait the man who brings stuff like my brand new brace. The visiting hours were over long ago when he has arrived. As it turned it out , my new brace will be a MEDI M.4s Comfort , a 4 point knee brace. He has brought a few pink-grey boxes and a tape line. He measured my left leg and after a short thinking he asked some patience from us. He had to go back to his car to bring a smaller brace. The trickiest part was that he had to set it up right or in other case it won't fit well on my leg. After a few try, we were ready to go. It was really weird at first, because it's not a "fix" thing that holds your leg in a stabil position like my old one. I had to get used to it.
I should stay in bed till 19th of June, till I have to go back for a "stitch removing and discussion" kind of control. I try so hard to have as much rest as it's possible, but... but it's not that so easy ! Not at all... The pain is tolerable -thanks for the painkillers again-, but sometimes I have really unpleasant feeling in my leg. I guess it's normal. It's the part of healing.
